A greenhouse complex in the Netherlands has installed a new 2 MW CHP system by ENER-G.

The natural gas-fired MTU unit comprises a 20v reciprocating genset with an 11 kV output.

Venlo-based Growery Leurs is using the system, which operates at 96.4% total efficiency, to provide heat combined with carbon dioxide enrichment to grow cucumbers and tomatoes across its 4 ha site. Electrical output from the unit is sold into the national grid while the grower will make savings of over €200,000 (£155,000) per year.

The CHP unit was assembled by sister company ENER-G Nedalo.
