Digitalisation and Big Data has become a crucial tool for all organizations, allowing them to gain holistic insights into the performance of machinery, plant and systems. Power generation facilities now have the ability to generate vast amounts of data on equipment behaviour and process performance. This data can be continuously uploaded in real time to the cloud, where sophisticated algorithms can analyse it to optimize production.
As the Industrial Internet continues to grow, vast data sets can be collected and evaluated as more machines, devices and customers are connected and come online.à‚
- But is the potential of digitalisation being exaggerated or are we only just beginning to appreciate the possibilities of connectivity and analytics?
- How can digital technology speed up the integration of renewable generation?
- At what stage of digital preparedness is the industry?
- Are we sufficiently alert to the attendant cyber security risks?
- How will new technology transform the structure of the industry and will it deliver what customers really want?
