COGEN Challenge registers small-scale unit number 500

COGEN Challenge is the European information campaign on small-scale cogeneration. Financed by the Intelligent Energy Programme of the European Union, it aims to have a database of 1000 existing small-scale cogeneration units (smaller than 1 MWe) by the end of 2007. In addition, the project partners offer guidance with the development of small-scale cogeneration projects through a set of tools and support materials.

Alstom has received a € 330 million contract from Brazilian steel producer ThyssenKrupp CSA Companhia Sideràƒºrgica to build a 490 MW combined-cycle power plant to be fuelled by ‘waste’ blast furnace gas from a new steel mill.
