$414m gas-fired power plant for Tanzania

Sumitomo is to build a $414m 240 MW gas-fired power plant near Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

The Japanese-based company secured finance for the project from Japan Bank for International Cooperation, Nippon Export and Investment Insurance and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.
Discoveries offshore of Tanzania and Mozambique waters have led to predictions the region could become the world’s third-largest exporter of natural gas.
