Among the coming power projects to be developed in El Salvador will be a natural gas-fired plant with a capacity of 355 MW. It will be constructed in the Acajutla municipality and is planned to be operational by 2018, according to reports.

The project includes a floating storage tank, a generation power plant and an associated transmission line. The plant will convert liquefied natural gas into natural gas.

La Prensa Gráfica newspaper added that construction work is scheduled to begin in 2015 in the Acajutla port area (pictured). The project will require an investment of $900m.
