The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has received a ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) for the construction of Barakah nuclear power plant, units 1 and 2.

The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, the environmental regulator in the United Arab Emirate (UAE), awarded the NOC.

ENEC was established back in December 2009 by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, with the mandate to oversee the deployment, ownership and operation of the country’s civil nuclear power programme.

Its mission is to deliver electricity to the grid in 2017.
