The chief executive of EDF Energy (Euronext: EDF) is set to leave the UK if his company’s deal to build the country’s $22bn nuclear reactor at Hinkley Point falls through.

The Times reports that Vincent de Rivaz has set his credibility on getting the plans for the plant off the ground.

The newspaper continues that the deal may well falter as both the UK government and the French-owned company have so far failed to reach agreement on the level of subsidies , funded by levies on consumer bills that the company will receive.
