Siemens has opened its first MindSphere digital solutions centre dedicated to coal and steam-based power plants.
The centre is in India and is Siemens’ 58th MindSphere facility – but it’s first in India.
MindSphere is Siemens’ open, cloud-based IoT operating system that connects machines and physical infrastructure to digital twins.
The new centre in Gurgaon will offer solutions such as remote diagnostic services, performance optimization, remote maintenance and power plant management, as well as offering extra solutions from Siemens’ Omnivise digital services portfolio.
Siemens will develop specific solutions on steam and coal plant requirements such as coal blending, augmented reality, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, virtual reality for training, and outage planning based on grid trends.
“At the centre in Gurgaon, the digital solutions of tomorrow will be developed in direct collaboration with our customers in the power sector,” said Tim Holt (pictured), chief executive of Siemens Power Generation Services. “It provides the ideal environment for co-creating innovative digital solutions adapted to optimize customers’ asset value and performance for coal and steam-based power plants.”
