WADE updates IEA delegates on innovative CHP policy
CHP policy best practice outlined at Paris meeting
Paris, France • WADE was recently on hand at the International Energy Agency’s International CHP/DHC Collaborative meeting in Paris to brief the attendees on international best practice of feed-in tariffs aimed at including cogeneration.

Over 70 representatives from more than 13 countries around the world participated in this public-private partnership designed to analyze and promote clean, efficient energy solutions.
The round-table highlighted international examples of best practice CHP and DHC policies, with a view to contributing to the IEA’s climate change and clean energy programme of work for the G8 Ministers.
WADE’s Canadian Country Manager, Anouk Kendall, was invited to the meeting to brief the delegates on the province of Ontario’s Clean Energy Standard Offer Program (CESOP), a policy designed to help promote CHP.
Turkish group to gauge decentralized energy potential using WADE model

Ankara, Turkey • WADE has learned that its joint bid for funding from the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office to quantify the economic and environmental ramifications of a shift to decentralized energy in Turkey has been approved.
The project called ‘Applying the WADE model in Turkey to demonstrate to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy the economic and environmental benefits of Decentralized Energy/Renewable Energy (DE/RE) and the use of economic modeling in policy development’ will begin in October 2007 and conclude in mid-2008.

Officials in Canberra welcome WADE visit
Canberra, Australia • During his recent visit to Australia WADE Director David Sweet met with various key decision makers in the Australian government interested in energy.
Among those in attendance at his presentation were representatives from the Department of Industry Tourism and Resources. The briefing on decentralized energy was upon the invitation of the Australian officials.
Earlier in the trip he spoke at the Australian Institute of Energy Symposium called Distributed Energy Ready Willing and Able in Sydney, after which he toured the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization Centre for Distributed Energy and Power facilities in Newcastle.

Growing opportunity for natural gas in DE market highlighted
Copenhagen, Denmark • The International Gas Union recently commissioned WADE to write an article highlighting the interconnection between decentralized energy and the natural gas industry.
The article, entitled ‘Local Power, Global Opportunities: Natural Gas and the Emerging Decentralized Energy Market’ was featured in the October 2007 issue of International Gas.

Sydney, Australia • Governments attending the Asian-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit recently held in Sydney, Australia, have been reminded of the importance and benefits of decentralized energy in a statement issued by WADE.
‘At future summits we hope the APEC leaders will explicitly recognize the role that decentralized energy can play in meeting their mutual objectives’, the press release concluded.

Bangkok, Thailand • WADE was in attendance at the recent PowerGen Asia conference held in Bangkok.
WADE representatives had an opportunity to meet some of the 5200 delegates who attended the event as they visited the WADE booth.

Canadian workshop focuses on DE
Ottawa, Canada • Natural Resources Canada recently hosted its Technology and Innovation Decentralized Energy Production Workshop in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
The workshop featured presentations and poster sessions to update industry, utility and provincial stakeholders on programme accomplishments over the past four years. The event also served to launch aspects of the new ecoENERGY Technology Initiative (ecoETI) programme in the same technical areas.
WADE’s Canadian Country Manager, Anouk Kendall, participated in the workshop on behalf of WADE members.

Meeting held with FERC Chairman, former Chair of the IEA
Washington, USA • WADE recently played host to a delegation from the International Gas Union as they visited Washington. While in Washington the group also took the opportunity to meet with the Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Joseph T. Kelliher, and visit FERC’s market monitoring centre.

Washington, USA • WADE’s Director played host to the CEO of Chesapeake Energy, Aubrey K. McClendon, at a monthly luncheon put on by the United States Natural Gas Roundtable.

Mr Woolsey gave a presentation entitled Energy, Security and the Long War of the 21st Century, including insights of how decentralized energy can help contribute to energy security.
