Two US-based cogeneration trade bodies have announced their merger.

The Texas Combined Heat and Power Initiative (TXCHPI) has joined with the World Alliance for Decentralized Energy (WADE) to form a new group, the Cogeneration Industries Council (CIC).

The new organisation will aim to drive the deployment of combined heat and power and distributed generation across the US, the CIC said, focusing on federal and state government affairs, industry-wide promotion and advocacy, as well as  business development and the sharing of best practices.

An expanded offering of conferences, events and outreach activities will help communicate the value proposition of cogeneration, the group said.

Paul Cauduro, CIC director and former TXCHPI executive director, said, ‘TXCHPI played an important role in moving regional policies and programmes of critical importance to the CHP industry.  … We are pleased to be a part of WADE to continue this important work on a regional and national basis.’

‘Beyond the energy and environmental benefits, the deployment of more cogeneration systems can also lead to impressive economic and job growth impacts and CIC will ensure that these impacts are also a part of the discussion,’ he added.
