WADE meets Canadian Provincial Minister to discuss decentralized energy

Alberta Energy Minister Knight welcomes WADE staff

Edmonton, Canada – WADE recently met the Energy Minister Mel Knight of the Canadian province of Alberta, as well as other key government officials.

On the agenda was the use of cogeneration in the Alberta oil sands, special regulations for the treatment of cogeneration under the provincial Specified Gas Emitters Regulation and the potential for microCHP in the province.

Alberta is emerging as an important region in global energy markets due to its extensive oil sand resources. The Alberta reserves are thought to represent more than 80% of the world’s natural bitumen reserves, putting proven Canadian oil reserves second in the world behind those of Saudi Arabia.

Also of common interest at the meetings was the recent formation of WADE Canada group to focus efforts on promoting decentralized energy across Canada.
