Ukraine to sell state-owned CHP plants to private investors

Four state-owned combined heat and power (CHP) plants are reportedly scheduled to be sold off as part of a planned privatization of Ukraine‘s energy companies.

The state’s shares in the Khersonska and Odesa CHP plants, which amount to 99% of total shares, are to be sold by October of this year, while the Dniprodzerzhinska plant is scheduled for sale by the end of the year and the Mykolaivska plant by early 2017, the Kyiv Post reports.

The move comes as Ukraine’s legislature prepares to pass electricity market reforms this autumn, in a move to bring its power market into line with EU standards and attract foreign investors.

There are around 30 CHP plants in Ukraine, half of which are currently state-owned.à‚
