Two government departments are to install a CHP system as part of a collaboration between GSH Group, ENER-G, and Telereal Trillium at Leeds Quarry House in Leeds, UK.
The 500 kW ENER-G CHP system, which produces 500 kW of electricity and 568 kW of heat, converts a single fuel into both electricity and heat in one process at the point of use. The installation is designed to reduce energy consumption by up to 20% at Quarry House.
The project is expected to save the government agencies around £90,000 (US$146,000) per year, while reducing annual carbon emissions by more than 430 tonnes.
According to Telereal, Quarry House’s current electricity consumption costs more than £1000 a day.
The government agencies are keen to improve energy efficiency and to use alternatives to traditional fossil fuel power sources.
