A new biomass power plant that will service a paper mill in Cumbria, UK has seen a milestone addition to the composition of its power generation.
Iggesund Paperboard in Siddick saw the arrival of a 250-tonne steam turbine, which will sit alongside the UK-made generator in the bio-power combined heat and power plant.
The plant will be able to produce about 50 MW of electrical power, reports the North West Evening Mail.
Commissioning tests will continue throughout the coming months as stages of construction are completed.
The biomass combined heat and power plant is part of a £108m investment to eliminate all fossil carbon emissions from the company’s mill at Workington.
