Officials at Princeton University believe they can maintain power to the world-renowned campus, even if Hurricane Sandy does cause power outages after it hits.

“There is always a possibility of power outages; however, we do have a power backup through the cogeneration plant,” said University Spokesperson Martin Mbugua. The cogeneration plant can power almost all of campus on its own if needed. The University is also preparing extra generators.”

The east coast of the United States is expected to be hit tonight with storm surges and flooding forecast, and of course widespread power outages.
