Wood fired CHP plan for Croatia

State-owned utility group HEP has secured Croatian regulatory approval for the development of a new woodchip-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant.

To be located in Osijek, Croatia, construction of the biomass-fired plant is anticipated to commence this year, with commercial operations due to begin in early 2017.

The EUR16.25 million plant will be built on the site of an existing power station and will produce some 16.5 GWhe annually, together with industrial steam production of 32,400 tonnes and 53.2 GWhth.
