Solon Corp. completed a 1.6 MW solar power plant in Tucson in conjunction with Tucson Electric Power Co.

The facility is TEP’s largest local solar resource. Located in the Solar Zone at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park, the plant consists of a single-axis tracking system featuring Solon’s Velocity MW system. The design involves a reduced number of individual components, fewer connections and less time spent on maintenance and installation, officials said.

Operation will be handled by TEP, which will provide the energy to customers through its Bright Tucson Community Solar program.
