Thai solar firm plans $447m spend to boost capacity

Bangkok-based Thai Solar Energy is to spend $447m in a five-year plan to generate 135 MW of capacity.

Next month the company, which was formed in 2008 and is southeast Asia‘s only solar-thermal energy producer, will open its first plant, a 5 MW facility at Kanchanaburi province.

This will be followed next year by a 9 MW facility in Suphunburi, and after that the company plans to develop 11 more projects ” including another each at Kanchanaburi and Suphunburi ” until it reaches the 135 MW target, according to chief operating officer Kathleen Maleenont.
