A total of 56 of the company’s 4.2 MW SWT-DD-130 turbines will be installed at the Överturingen wind park.
With a tip height of 220 metres, the turbines will be among the tallest structures in the Nordic countries and are more than 30 metres higher than the highest building in Scandinavia today.
The windfarm is owned and operated by Green Investment Group, a business of Macquarie Capital, and is located halfway between the cities of Sundsvall and Östersund. It is scheduled to be completed and commissioned next year.
The nacelles and blades will be built in Siemens Gamesa’s facilities in Denmark.
“We are proud to set a visible example of the performance of our products in Sweden,” said Ricardo Chocarro, chief executive of onshore business at Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy.
“This project demonstrates the attractiveness of wind energy for the capital markets, investors and communities.”
