Photovoltaic plant to power University of Cyprus

The University of Cyprus campus is set to acquire its own photovoltaic power plant, to help save energy and reduce pollution.

A meeting of interested parties has taken place, at the initiative of the University of Cyprus (UCY) Rector Konstantinos Christofides, according to the Famagusta Gazette.

The purpose of the exercise was to launch a project for a 10 MW photovoltaic power plant at the UCY campus.

It is estimated that the annual pollution savings would reach 12.700 tones of carbon dioxide.

A special committee on this issue has already been set up and will be assisted by various institutions such as the Cyprus Electricity Authority and Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority.
