New wastewater cogen in Genoa

Industrial CHP company Heat & Power (H&P) has begun development of a small-scale biogas cogeneration plant located in Genoa, Italy.

The fuel, which comes from the city’s waste water treatment facility, feeds a series of microturbines, exhaust heat is recovered to warm the anaerobic digesters.

Total power output from the array – 260 kW of which 195 kW is already operating – feeds the site electrical equipment in parallel with the grid.

The plant is controlled from Heat & Power’s Remote Control Room, where the firm claims to manage the widest proprietary cogeneration fleet in Italy.

Under its business model H&P installs, owns, maintains and operates the plant, while the customer purchases the plant outputs.
