A 320 kW solar energy plant on the roofs of a waste incineration plant has been commissioned in Germany.

Municipal energy and drinking water provider RheinEnergie AG has developed a new project on the roof of a storage building belonging to the Cologne-based waste disposal and recycling company Abfallentsorgungs- und Verwertungsgesellschaft Köln GmbH.

The grid-connected system uses more than 1200 Q CELLS solar modules and will produce approximately 290 MWh per year.

Under the new German Renewable Energy Act (Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz or EEG), not only private customers, but also commercial and industrial users are allowed to economically exploit photovoltaic systems.
