Germany’s transport minister Peter Ramsauer is advocating the (CSU) accelerated expansion of wind power on land, because of the delays in development of coastal wind energy.

Ramsauer, speaking to the “Hamburger Abendblatt”, said that wind power on land has the most economical expansion potential, in both the short and medium term.

The minister also called on local authorities to ease planning laws for the replacement of old windmills, in order to achieve land-based wind energy potential.

“We want more powerful equipment in highly suitable and landscape-friendly locations.”
