GE is making its debut in the Indian renewables market with a $115 million joint venture deal to build 500 MW of wind farms.

GE Energy Financial Services will invest $50 million in wind projects across the country, with India’s Greenko Group putting up the remaining $65 million.

The new company is called Greenko Wind Project and it has plans for wind installations across Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

The first project will be a 65 MW wind farm in Maharashtra, which is planned for completion in December.

Greenko was formed five years ago and generates 183 MW across India via hydroelectric, biomass gas/liquid plants.
