A biogas fuelled combined cooling, heat and power (CCHP) plant powered by three of GE’s Jenbacher J416 engines and generating 4.2 MW of renewable electricity and an equal amount of thermal energy has been officially opened in the town of Szarvas.
German company r.e Bioenergie GmbH, a subsidiary of BayWa r.e GmbH, built the plant and is running it in close co-operation with the poultry processing plant operator Gallicoop Pulykafeldolgozó Zrt. Gallicoop, which provides a large amount of the raw biomass that is converted into biogas.
The CCHP system‘s thermal power is used to supply on-site heating and cooling. Excess electricity is fed into the local grid.
