Dutch choose Siemens to build country’s largest wind farm

Dutch firm Typhoon Offshore BV has announced that it has granted Germany’s Siemens AG NYSE:à‚ SI preferred supplier status for its planned offshore wind park, Gemini.

Fox Business reports that Siemens is set to deliver 150 wind turbines each with 4 MW capacity.

According to estimates, the contract is worth around EUR900 million ($1.18bn).

Gemini will be the biggest renewable energy project in the Netherlands, though an investment decision is still pending.

The wind park, to be located 55 kilometers from the Dutch island of Schiermonnikoog in the North Sea, is set deliver 250,000MW hours of power annually.
