Storage and distribution company Grocontinental has submitted a planning application for an anaerobic digestion plant that would be fuelled on chicken litter and manure together with locally grown farm crops.
The plant, which would be located on a farm in Whitchurch, Shropshire, UK, would produce both heat and power. Expected to operate for around 8000 hours a year, output from the facility will be used on-site at the farm, with excess electrical capacity exported to the grid.
According to local media reports, the plant will feature a number of storage tanks, a store to keep manure, associated buildings and infrastructure to connect the plant to the National Grid.
