Amplio secures $20m solar funding

Amplio Solar has clinched EUR16m ($20.7m) of financing to build solar plants with a capacity of 7 MW in Lazio, Italy.

The plants will be built in conjunction with Spanish contractor Rios Renovables and marks a further expansion of Amplio’s solar facilities. It has a total of 20 MW in Sicily, Puglia, Lazio and Abruzzo, and 10 MW of rooftop PV arrays in southern Sardinia.

The company stated that Italy remains an attractive place for solar investment, “at least in the short term”.

Chief executive Alberto Dalla Rosa said: “Despite the challenging economic backdrop, we remain confident in the continued growth of Amplio Solar and look forward to reporting further substantial progress, in Italy and abroad, in the course of the year.”
