$97m HEP plant constructed in Romania

Romania’s energy company Hidroelectrica has recently completed construction work at the new Robesti hydro power plant, on the Olt river. The investment in the power plant amounted to around $97m.

“The hydro power in Robesti will start energy production by the end of this year during the technological tests,” said the general manager of Hidroelectrica, Dragos Zachia Zlatea.

The new power plant has an installed capacity of 27.1 MW and will produce 74 GWh of electricity per year.

Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of electricity and system technological services in Romania. It uses renewable hydro-power and last year covered 36 per cent of the electricity production in Romania, achieving a record production of 19.5 TWh.

The company is owned by the Romanian state through the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Business.
