The British BAXI Group has renamed its subsidiary, Hamburg-based european fuel cell gmbh, as BAXI INNOTECH from March. The company is well on the way to developing an innovative, fuel cell-based heating unit for single-family homes, says BAXI, and intends to launch a competitive unit — currently in the field test phase — onto the market by 2010.

Based in Derby in the UK, the BAXI Group is said to be the third-largest heating equipment manufacturer in Europe. With the renaming of european fuel cell gmbh, the company says it will have achieved one of its most important corporate goals ” the technical realization of fully developed ideas based on fuel cell technology right through to the market launch of innovative products.

Mark Edwards, CEO of the BAXI Group, is convinced of the company’s ability to perform internationally within the Group in the field of product development. ‘The global market demands a high degree of flexibility in the creation and development of up-to-the-minute products. BAXI INNOTECH will ensure that we can respond quickly and efficiently to such demands. We will be demonstrating this capability in the final stages of the development of the fuel cell heating unit.’
