On-site solar power rebate from Duke Energy

Utility group Duke Energy has launched a solar rebate programme designed to help its South Carolina, USA customers with the up-front cost of installing on-site solar.

The rebate is one element of Duke’s Distributed Energy Resource (DER) programme designed to support customer use of solar energy and grow the company’s renewable footprint in the state from less than 2 MW currently to at least 110 MW and potentially 170 MW by 2021.

The company is providing $1/W DC installed for qualified residential customers who install systems up to 20 kW AC and for business customers who install systems up to 1 MW AC on their property. A non-residential customer who installs 50 kW could earn a rebate of $50,000.
