Aggreko is to provide temporary power for the 2014 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in Brazil.

The company said it has signed an agreement to provide over 46 MW of on-site power for broadcasting of all 64 matches in each of the 12 host cities, as well as power and temperature control services for an International Broadcast Centre to be installed at the Riocentro events centre in Rio de Janeiro.

The contract includes the installation and operation of 1000 distribution panels and 200 km of electric cables.

Aggreko’s South American business produces revenues of around $400 million. In 2012 the firm acquired Brazil’s largest power-rental business, Poit Energia.

The company has previously powered the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the 2012 London Olympics, among others, and has also been selected as the power provider for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.
