More fuel cell power plants for California wastewater operations

The DFC power plants will purify the methane gas produced at the site by the anaerobic digestion of biosolids, and use it for fuel to generate energy. Because no combustion is involved in the fuel cell process, the new plant will help the District meet California’s CARB 07 requirements ” some of the most stringent in the US.

US-based Recycled Energy Development (RED) has formed a strategic partnership with private equity firm Denham Capital Management to develop a US$1.5 billion portfolio of waste energy recycling projects. The partnership will serve as an investment platform to fund on-site generation projects developed and managed by RED.
