The plant will run on heavy fuel oil and diesel, and will feature two 18V48/60 TS engines from MAN providing power for a cement factory in the historic town of Rabigh on the Red Sea coast, around 120 km from Jeddah.
Construction work on the project’s 40 MW first phase is scheduled to begin in 2016/17, MAN said, with two additional phases and four more engines to come, for an eventual total capacity of 120 MW.
‘This order marks another milestone in the development of our EPC business in Saudi Arabia and speaks to the trustful relationship we were able to build with the local cement and building industry,’ said Ashraf Al Natsheh, Senior Sales Director Power Plants for MAN in Saudi Arabia. à‚
This year, MAN said it will also hand over a 55 MW on-site power plant, operated by MAN’s service brand PrimeServ, to Jeddah-based United Cement Industrial Company. à‚
