Himoinsa has supplied a backup diesel-fired genset to the Philippines’ Puerto Princesa International Airport, the company announced this week.

The open skid HTW-1525 T6 genset with a Mitsubishi engine will provide up to 1900 kVA of emergency power, Himoinsa said.

In the event of a power cut, the genset will also illuminate the airport’s runway and power the terminal building and cargo centre.

Himoinsa said the genset was configured to withstand the Philippines’ tropical climate.

The genset delivery was part of an expansion of the airport on the island of Palawan, undertaken due to growing tourist numbers. The new airport was formally opened on 3 May.

The airport is the gateway to the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
