Fuel cell technology to power Pfizer

FuelCell Energy is set to install a 5.6 MW fuel cell power generation system for Pfizer in Connecticut, US.Fuelcell Energy

The company stated the fuel cell will be installed at its 160-acre research and development facility in Groton.

Under a power purchase agreement, the biopharmaceutical company will buy power and steam from FuelCell for 20 years.

The fuel cell will be part of a combined heat and power system that will run in parallel with the grid and provide standby power in case of outages. The system, which will be operational by the summer, includes two DFC3000 fuel cell power plants rated at 2.8 MW each.
