Melbourne-based clean energy company Ceramic Fuel Cells has launched a dishwasher-sized micro-CHP unit for sale, initially in Victoria, Australia. The new unit – called BlueGen – converts natural gas to electricity and heat via ceramic fuel cells.

The company, currently in discussions with potential local manufacturing partners, plans to make the BlueGen product available in Victoria from early 2010. Ceramic says it is also in discussion with potential purchasers of the product in other markets, including Europe and North America.
