Wärtsilä has signed a contract to supply generators to a Mexican gas-fired plant that will work with the company’s Flexicycle technology.

The supply consists of seven 50SG gas engines (pictured) able to produce 139 MW. The plant that will use those generators belongs to Energía del Caribe S. A., ENP Newswire reports.

The station will be located in Monterrey, in the state of Nuevo Leon, and is expected to be fully operational by 2016.

The gas that will be used in power production will come from the US, and the electricity generated will be transported from Mexico to Guatemala.
