Russian oil field to reduce emissions

Capstone Turbine Corporation (Nasdaq: CPST) has announced that it has received an order for 100 microturbines for $6.4m from its Russian distributor BPC Engineering for a new pipeline project.

The low-emission Capstone microturbines will be installed at modular power stations and will be fuelled by untreated associated gas from well sites that otherwise would be flared.

Associated gas utilization for power will allow the customer to avoid costly emissions penalties and to significantly reduce power costs at the oil field level. The electricity generated by the microturbines is expected to cover nearly all the energy needs of the oil field.
