GE has announced a supply contract with Shanxi Jincheng Coal Group for 12 of its 3.35 MW Jenbacher J620 gas engines.

The engines are destined for an expansion of a coal mine methane (CMM) gas-fuelled power plant at the Chengzhuang coal mine in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, China.

When the 40 MW expansion is completed – due in March 2016 – the entire gas engine power plant will generate a total of 58 MW of on-site power.

The existing plant features nine older gas engines from another supplier.

GE will also commission the generator sets and related equipment.

Diao Renhui, general manager of engineering, procurement and construction contractor Jereh Combined Energy Corporation, said: ‘This project will enhance the energy efficiency of the existing plant and further reduce the Chengzhuang mine’s on-site methane emissions.’

Jereh will provide equipment including the radiators, silencers, control panels, exhaust boilers, associated equipment as well as installation and other services.
