Gas engines for Korean community energy project

The project will be Wärtsilä’s first in Korea under the Community Energy System (CES) concept; which is based on South Korean government legislation to encourage decentralized energy production. The CES aims to supply heat and electricity from independent heat and power production facilities to residential, commercial, and business buildings, together with hospitals, and other facilities that are concentrated in a specific area.

US-based Infinia Corporation has partnered with another American company, Massachusetts-based Emergence BioEnergy Inc. (EBI) to develop a small-scale cogeneration product to serve developing nations, including their rural communities.
