Firms in the Austrian energy sector have come together to demand subsidies for cogeneration technology.
The media were told this week by power sector representatives that their members are demanding around $102m in subsidies for combined heat and power.
The firms are pressing for inclusion of the subsidy in Austrian energy efficiency legislation, according to power utility Wiener Stadtwerke CEO Marc Hall.
Mr Hall said the lack of subsidies is disadvantageous for the competitiveness of the Austrian energy segment.
