The Brazilian power company, CPFL Energias Renovaveis, has agreed to buy a 40 MW biomass power plant from Usina Acuareira Ester in Brazil.

Sugarcane biomass cogeneration

The buyer will pay $28.2m in cash and assume $33.2m in outstanding debt under the terms of the deal. The acquisition, of what will be CPFL’s third biomass facility, is subject to approval from the Brazilian National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL).

The sugarcane-fuelled cogeneration facility is located on the site of Usina Ester’s sugarcane crushing plant in Cosmopolis, Sao Paulo state, Brazil.
