Capstone’s Italian distributor IBT Group secured the order for the C800 microturbine, which is expected to be commissioned later this year.
The methane-fuelled plant will provide electricity to the facility as well as chilled water to refrigerate the warehouse using an ammonia absorption chiller. The trigeneration system will also include a heat recovery module to produce hot water for washing and space heating for offices. Any excess electricity produced by the microturbine will be sold back to the utility.
In a related development, a combined heat and power (CHP) system at the Toledo Museum of Art in Ohio, USA, has surpassed 400,000 hours of operation. Four on-site Capstone C65 microturbines supply 260 kWe and 1.6 mbtu of heat.
