Flitwick Leisure Centre, currently under construction in Flitwick, Bedfordshire in the UK, is to see a cogeneration plant installed by EuroSite Power Inc.

Following the signing of an agreement worth approximately £1.23 million ($1.97 million) with Stevenage Leisure Limited, EuroSite Power will supply a 100 kW combined heat and power (CHP) system as part of a the new build project.

Under the terms of the 15 year agreement, the CHP system will be funded, owned and operated by EuroSite Power. Flitwick Leisure Center will then buy the energy at a guaranteed lower rate than if it were to buy directly from the grid.

The system will produce up to 1,373,787 kWh of total energy per annum.

Stevenage Leisure Limited Corporate Services Director Jonathan Stone said, ‘Keeping a tight grip on energy costs is of paramount importance to the efficient running of a leisure centre. With no upfront costs, the EuroSite Power solution provides guaranteed savings, risk free.’
