Waste air cogeneration system developed in Mumbai

A Mumbai-based company LeanWay Energy Pvt Ltd has developed a system that generates electricity from the waste air coming out of exhausts installed at homes and offices.

The company recently installed the Waste Air Cogeneration (WAC) system at Burckhard Compression in the city and the power generated is to be utilised for lighting purposes.

“The technology consists of a vertically mounted wind cage installed in front of the air flow or the air exhaust in such a way that it develops enough torque to rotate the wind cage which results in production of electricity,” said Shrirang Chandekar, founder director, LeanWay Energy Pvt Ltd.
