Energy from turkey waste at Panhandle feed mill

Sietsema Farms Feeds, based in Pierson Township just south of Howard City in Texas, is to install an energy from turkey waste facility at a new building that is under construction.

The US$3 million CHP facility will be housed on a 10 ha site with work on the new plant set to begin within the next month.

Sietsema’s turkey waste comes from eight farms located in Allendale housing more than 1 million birds.
Phase 3 Renewables based in Cincinnati, Ohio, is working with Sietsema Farms Feeds on the biomass project.

After meeting the energy requirements for the mill, the new facility will sell excess electricity to the grid.
