Cogen to power $192m Romanian facility

Austria’s Holzindustrie Schweighofer is to use a combined heat and power plant to generate power for a new wood processing facility it plans to build in Romania.

The plant will be located in the Covasna county – a region with abundant wood resources, and will be commissioned in 2014, the company said on its website.
The plant will perform basic processing of 800,000 cubic metres of wood per year, out of which 70% will be further processed into glued panels. Some 80% of the plant’s output will be exported – part of it after downstream processing in other plants owned by Holzindustrie Schweighofer in Romania.
