MTU Friedrichshafen, an engine manufacturing subsidiary of Tognum, has taken delivery of a new natural-gas-fired cogeneration plant to produce electricity and heat in its Plant No 1 in Germany. The cogeneration plant, produced by another Tognum subsidiary MDE, has an electricity generating capacity of 1.8 MW, almost enough to fully power the site, and produces 2 MW of heat, about a third of its total heating needs.

Prospects for CHP projects during the 2008-2012 Phase II period of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) are likely to improve compared to Phase I (2005-2007), according to a new Research Brief from Delta Energy & Environment.
