A south London leisure and housing development will be supplied by community energy centre under ESCO agreement.

A combined heat and power (CHP) energy centre is being developed to supply a regeneration project in south London. E.ON is working in partnership with the Croydon Council Urban Regeneration Vehicle (CCURV) – a joint venture of John Laing and Croydon Council – to deliver the centre for the Waddon leisure and housing development, in Croydon.

The project includes new homes, 119 of which will be for affordable housing provider the Hyde Group. There will also be a new leisure centre with a swimming pool, sports hall, gym and community space. The first homes on the site are scheduled for completion next summer.

E.ON will manage and maintain heating and hot water supply to the scheme through a community energy centre and district heating network. It has an energy services company (ESCO) commercial agreement which will run for 25 years.

CCURV is a 28-year partnership between the council and John Laing which involves the regeneration of a number of sites across Croydon.
